The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini — This is actually a novel, but you would never know it based on the historically accurate information. The story centers around a boy born and raised in Afghanistan in the early 1970’s and it’s affect on him throughout the Afghani wars with the Soviets and then later the transition from a monarchy to the iron-fisted rule of the ultra-extremist Taliban. This book is about 350+ pages and I read it in just a couple days. That should tell you something about it: once you pick it up you won’t be able to put it down. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (sent by Sheila Cohen)
